Daily Strategic Briefing

Sunday, October 12, 2025

"Today's briefing highlights a volatile market environment, geopolitical tensions, and rapid advancements in AI. Market indices, particularly the S&P 500 and NASDAQ, experienced significant declines, alongside increased volatility indicated by a rising VIX. Geopolitically, trade tensions escalate as China defends its rare earth controls, threatening US tariffs. Military conflicts continue, with a devastating attack in Sudan and reports of Cuban troops in Ukraine, increasing global instability. Simultaneously, AI is rapidly evolving, with major enterprise deals being announced, and new AI models like OpenAI's GPT-5 being released, even as concerns about the impact on the workforce and the potential for bias persist. Several funding rounds for AI-related firms indicate continued strong investment in the sector. The rise of China 10 year bond yield hitting a 5-week low suggests a flight to safety which is further exacerbated by the rising inflation in Senegal and dropping crypto currencies."

  • Monitor the market for a potential downturn: The simultaneous drop in major indexes and the rise in VIX suggest increased market risk, necessitating a review of investment strategies and risk tolerance.
  • Assess geopolitical risks and supply chain resilience: Escalating trade tensions between the US and China, as well as ongoing military conflicts, may affect global supply chains and create further economic uncertainty. Evaluate and diversify supply chains and assess risk exposure in affected regions.
  • Evaluate the impact of AI on workforce and operations: The acceleration of AI adoption requires strategic consideration of its impact on the workforce, including retraining and adaptation plans. Review the company's AI strategy and align it with ethical and practical considerations.
  • Explore opportunities in AI development and deployment: With several funding rounds and new AI models emerging, evaluate potential investment opportunities in the AI sector and explore strategic partnerships or acquisitions to remain competitive.
  • Scrutinize investment exposure to high-risk assets: The decrease of crypto currencies and the rise of China 10 year bond yield indicate a flight to safety. Re-evaluate portfolio diversification and rebalance risk profiles.
